ECOLOGICAL RETROFIT: PERISCOPE
Los Angeles animal and plant species are threatened by disconnected and declining habitat. Harnessing the swaths of low-height commercial buildings and underused residential lots and streets, this design retrofits rooftops and street diets to provide 40% more vegetated area within ten years. Residents also enjoy improved air quality, decreased urban heat - and new walkways with periscope viewing stations, connecting new corridors north/south from the Zoo, to the mountains.
