URBAN DESIGN: ELEVATING PUBLIC SPACES
Downtown Seattle is congested, lacking sufficent parks and public transit. It is not flat, so perhaps its public spaces shouldn’t be, either. This exhibit, at the Seattle Design Festival, installed a fake “room”, where interactive details are hidden in ordinary furniture pieces like drawers and lampshades, rewarding visitor curiosity with visions of how the city could look with elevated spaces like public green roofs and gondola transit, and the parcels available for Implementation.
